| European Dominican Humanitarian Association |
The European Dominican Humanitarian Association was born
spontaneously
in Las Terrenas as a great chain of solidarity to help
the
most underprivileged population. The Association is composed
by
members of different nationalities and with diverse
competitions;
technicians of different professions, all very commited
with the project
and ready to offer their time for which it is needed.
This non profit organization is a meeting point for the tourists,
the
residents and all those that would like to collaborate with the
project. |

The activities of the
Association are divided in 3 areas:
HEALTH
The right
to medical assistance, evident in northen countries is lived here as an
extremely expensive privilege.
Thanks to the cooperation of associations,
doctors and people in
charge of hospitals in France, a great part of the
needed material could be gathered and 5 containers filled with equipment
have already been sent from Europe and distributed through the hospitals and
dispensaries of the region.
A solidarity chain for
medicine recovery
has been settled in France and a system so
that the tourists who visit
Dominican Republic can bring small packages
regularly has been created
in order to ensure a constant flow of the most needed medicines. Members of
the Association are in charge of their reception and its equitable
distribution
YOUTH
The Association supports diverse
Dominican and Haitian
initiatives to ensure basic education for children
with difficulties
The Association collects regularly pedagogical material
for the students
A project to build and manage a rural school is also
under study. Toys and clothes are also gathered both in Las Terrenas and
Europe to be distributed later on during the regional campaigns.
SECURITY
The Association supports the creation of a
fire station, nonexistent up to date. A new cointainer arrival including a
tanker truck and other material to fight against fire and emergencies, as
well as a French voluntary firemen team to train the local people will allow
the Dominican firemen to assure the town and its environs security.
