The Foundation
Artecosón was created so that the people of
Cosón could participate in
the touristic development of the region by creating an original handcraft.
The Foundation has offered a space to work as well as a small dominican
house (casita) to present and sell the products. A team of volunteers is
also in charge of helping with the promotion of the creations all made with
local materials. |

The Foundation
objectives are to promote and develop the handcraft coming from the
cultural, social and ecological heritage of the Taino Indians, the creation
of an artisan center and to organize different ecotouristic activities to
help to the sustainable development of this region. |
|
For three years, Miguel and his boys have been working
every day in the factory of the Foundation elaborating the products that
later on will be distributed by all the country. In the manufacture of each
piece there is a part of their heart and the illusion to independently
manage a project that contributes to the development of this
wonderful
village where we can find some of the most beautiful beaches of
the world.
The totality of the benefits is equitably distributed between
all the artisans.

All the products of the Foundation Artecosón
can be found in his small shop located at the road from Bonita to Cosón . A
small selection of them will be also exposed in “El Vivero”, Carmen street,
109 in Las Terrenas. The Foundation distributes as well its creations
through those shops compromised with the project and respecting the
“SHARING” or Fair Trade concept. Here below you will find some
