Geneviève Curt (Gadjet for her friends), was born in Marseille in
the
south of France. Since she was a child, she always had pencils and
brushes
in the hands. At the age of 13th, she starts to take courses
of
drawing at the academy of the Arts in Marseille.
After a
training as advertising graphic designer
and a few years working in an
advertising agency, she leaves in 1979 to
the Antilles, in Guadeloupe
and later on to St Martin where she lived for
13 years in the village of Colombier. It
was there that she started to
paint scenes of West-Indian women, that she loves so much. She discovered
the watercolours in 1989,
and that was for her the revelation of her
life. The light and the
transparency are the goal of her work.
In 1994 she comes to Las Terrenas in the
Dominican
Republic, where she finds new sources of
inspiration. You can visit her
exhibition at El Vivero, Calle del Carmen, 109 in Las Terrenas
