"It is time to follow the track of those to whom we have
stopped the songs and the dances" |
 |
Yves and Valerie Leblet, two French artists who for 20 years
have been
studying the pre-Columbian arts, choosed to ignore the
modern
life in their house of Cosón. The tainos Gods, the trees, the day
and
the night are their only neighbors. After 20 years living in
different Caribbean islands , their passion to follow the track of the
pre-Columbian Caribbean Indians took them, naturally, from the Amazonia to
this Quisqueya paradise . |
 |
And it is
here, in what they have called the “Taino Valley”, where they
experience
their contemporary vision of the taino art and they put into scene
the
myths, beliefs and rituals of this young civilization from which the
erradication in the name of the "new world" just saved some fragments of
their art. Thanks to them many of the new creations of the place, from a
villa, to a bar , including an hotel, thought their art, have welcomed again
the taino sould that should never have disappeared... |
 |
Valerie and Yves share an artistic philosophy based on
the the symbolism and myth research. They recreate, through masks, totems
and other objects, the forces and the energies of which their creativity is
nourished. As well as the chaman obtains his sacred force, the process
of choosing and collecting the materials that they use happens through the
emancipation of the glance, followed by the abandonment of the real time to
enter to the ritual time characteristic of the mud, beach wood, seeds,
minerals and other elements of the Nature transformation. |
